Preparations . . . . . . . . .

Well, time progresses and we are still getting things together. It seems that we have accumulated a whole heap of "things" that now need to be put into storage, dumped or taken with us. As space is at a premium the "taken with us" list is pretty small!

Just to give you an idea of why space is at a premium, take a look at the rig in which we will be travelling :

As you can see, it is just a small van so if we are to keep things tidy and accessible we need to keep the volume of gear down.

We will be living outside as much as possible and this picture, taken on the foreshore in Broome, gives you an idea of what a short stay camp will look like.

Pretty eh?  The rig has evolved a little since then. The roof rack has changed for example, but it is still the same basic package.

So, for now we are organising the dismantling of our home in Darwin and getting rid of everything. Thanks to everyone for helping - we'll keep you apprised!

Decision Time!

Well, we have now both resigned from our jobs and can now go public with our plans.

We are both, it has to be said, more than a little sad about leaving not only Darwin, but also our places of work where we have found many friends and a generally great environment. Who knows though, we will probably be back!

Plans - well ours are pretty loose. We'll be heading south to Tassie, a place to which we have both wanted to pay a decent visit for a long time and then we'll probably make our way back towards the Gold Coast to sort out our properties and the storage of furniture etc.

Then, well, who knows?

We expect to be doing a lot more of this!
